About Karon

Who is Karon Thackston?

I have been in love with advertising since I was six years old. I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons and seeing the Frito Bandito on the screen (that ought to “date” me). I looked up at my mom and exclaimed, “I want to do THAT!”

I have owned my own full-time copywriting agency since 1999. During that time, I’ve authored and self-published three books including the popular Step-by-Step Copywriting Course (5th Edition). This course teaches sound and highly effective website copywriting and SEO copywriting techniques through lessons, assignments and examples.  Writing With Keywords is in its 4th edition and outlines strategic and natural uses of keyphrases.  My most recent book, How to Write Successful PPC Ads, (2nd Edition) reveals proven, practical methods for crafting PPC ads with high click through rates.

In addition to selling the Step-by-Step Copywriting Course as a self-paced home study, I also teach it and How to Write Successful PPC Ads in a tutor-assisted capacity at Search Engine College.  An additional course taught through SEC that I created is entitled Article Marketing and Distribution.

I am currently the Copywriting Moderator of both the High Rankings Forum and the Small Business Ideas Forum.  I have spoken at Search Engine Strategies as well as Search Marketing Expo conferences.

Now I’m sharing my knowledge with you through my blog, books and other resources.

The one thing I’ve discovered over the past 25 years in advertising is that:

Most Buying Decisions Are Emotional -
Your Copy Should Be, Too.

    Hi Karon,
I’m interested in your new ebook, but at the top of the sales page it says offer good until July 8th.

Your blog post today said July 14th — is that the correct end date?

    Thanks,
    Debra

Akk! No, the date is not correct. Please excuse the typo. The expiration date for this offer is July 14th. I’ve notified Wordtracker so they can change the headline.
    So sorry!
