Hi Karen, I have a couple of questions. 1. Regarding image tags, your example of “the girl dancing reminds us of the importance of longtailed keywords” (or something like that), that seems quite long. Do you have any guidelines on how long an image tag can be? 2. This is off topic from your video, but I was wondering what plug-in you use for your social media graphics on the right column of the blog. Is this something standard or is it a custom done deal?

Thanks, as always, for the useful information you provide to us.

Hey Mark. There are no length limitations on ALT tags. You can put an entire paragraph in there if you want to, but remember that real people will be using these as well as engines. That “dancing girl” thing was just an example off the top of my head. I normally try to keep the ones I write to a sentence or two.
I don’t know about the social graphics
I’ll have to ask my blog person. I think she just used a collection of social icons. From the looks of it in the widget they are individual images with link tags. It’s not a plugin.
