Occasionally, I get asked what my favorite copywriting books are. Obviously, I name my own 3 ebooks first 🙂
- The Step-by-Step Copywriting Course
- How to Increase Keyword Saturation (Without Destroying the Flow of Your Copy)
- How to Write Successful PPC Ads
But there are others that I believe every copywriter should also read. Here are a few in no particular order. All are available at Amazon.com or your favorite local bookstore.
- Why We Buy – Paco Underhill
- Catalog Copy that Sizzles – Hershel Lewis
- Blink – Malcolm Gladwell
- How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie
- Tested Advertising Methods – John Caples
- The Nitty-Gritty of Writing for the Engines – Jill Whalen (ebook)
You’ll notice that several of these are not about copywriting at all, but rather about behavior. That’s because in order to write great copy you have to understand human behavior. I also love DiSC and Meyers Briggs courses along with NLP and other behavior-type learning models.
